Ares I (Crew Launch Vehicle)
The NASA Ares I launch vehicle is a human rated system designed to launch the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle. The Ares I will use a single five-segment Space Shuttle Solid Rocket Motor and a new cryogenic second stage.

Andrews has been working with Alliant Tech Systems (ATK) Thiokol since late 2004 to refine designs for elements of the Ares I. Specific work includes systems engineering and integration (SE&I), safety and mission assurance (S&MA), integrated logistics support, avionics, and other design activities. Andrews also led the Ares I High Altitude Deceleration trade studies and is supporting the Ares I-X demonstration flight vehicle preparations.
