Modeling and Simulation
Andrews specializes in the modeling and simulation of a broad range of aerospace systems. Specific capabilities include:
Subsystem performance modeling: Use of MATLAB and Simulink to evaluate the performance of a range of systems, including propulsion system, complex crogenic / thermodynamic cycles, and system architectures (e.g. Lunar logistics architecture)
System weights analysis: Andrews has developed several in-house tools for preliminary and detailed weights analysis. These systems have been used during the conceptual design of launch vehicles and on details production programs, including the Ares I Launch Vehicle
Trajectory Analysis: Andrews uses OTIS and POST trajectory optimization programs for 3DOF and 6DOF vehicle performance assessments
6DOF Analysis: Andrews uses standard control algorithms to assess system performance and derive control surface / thruster sizes and performance characteristics.
More information on these capabilities can be found using the links on the right.
